The coin-like medallions with a phoenix and snow lion contained within is a very unusual ornament, possibly one that is unique in my experience. The drawing of the phoenix is inspired by Chinese textiles from the Ming period; the squared-off wings are characteristic of those weavings. The whimsical, almost child-like drawing of the snow lion depicted in a frontal pose, is typically Tibetan. Lotus flowers alternate with birds and butterflies as the additional ornaments of these elaborate coin medallions.
