An interesting composition with the unusual depiction of a seeded fruit, possibly pomegranate, a traditional fertility symbol used throughout Central Asia. This rug is interesting for another reason, the use of two colors of dyed woolen yarn plied together and employed within a single knot to produce a mottled effect. This technique is one that is associated more with the later workshop productions rather than earlier village weavings.
