This almost identical pair of Khaden shows the brocade pattern, derived from Chinese silk textiles, is drawn on a larger scale with the use of reciprocal space, where the ground pattern within the medallions seen in light blue 'reads' more true, is more immediately apparent to the eye than the primary pattern seen in darker blue. With the shou pattern in the middle of every roundel, the drawing is very different from what one usually sees in other rugs of this design type.
