An unusually patterned horse blanket lacking the overall monastic palette that would suggest ecclesiastic use. The elements within the lattice, reminiscent of the Turkmen 'erre' gol, are arranged in diagonal rows defined by the use of color with an understated 'wave' or water pattern in either of the lower corners. The colors appear to be all natural dyes and the cover probably dates to the fourth quarter of the 19th century.
