A tour de force of spontaneity. Rarely does the Tibetan aesthetic allow for such a novel and utterly random use of patterning. Seemingly devoid of the codified aesthetic one sees in the weavings from other Central Asian cultures, still the Tibetan design pool allows for only so much innovation. This rug breaks all established patterns and is unique in my experience. The simple crosses arbitrarily covering the field represent talismans to ensure good luck and ward off the evil eye.
