An extremely unusual variation of the checkerboard theme forming concentric diamonds defined by color changes. The overall composition could very well be identified as Uzbek if not for the distinctive cut loop method of knotting. The very nature of the pattern is prone to a certain stiffness, which is avoided here probably because of uneven warps and wefts; this unevenness could possibly be the result of the spin of the wool or the manner in which the loom was strung to begin with.
