Tibetan Khaden Sleeping Rug | c. 1900
This rare and luminous Tibetan khaden—a traditional sleeping rug from circa 1900—offers a serene yet powerful expression of Buddhist symbolism and artistic finesse.
Set against a deep navy-blue field, three floating peonies (padma) bloom in vibrant hues, representing purity and spiritual awakening. Stylised foliage and florals emerge organically, echoing vitality and movement.
At each corner, a vivid cosmic tableau of mountains, clouds, and waves reflects the Tibetan view of the universe in harmony. The field is framed by a slim bicoloured border, while the outer baby-blue band features auspicious Buddhist symbols, including vases with blossoming flowers, emblematic of abundance and spiritual growth.

Condition: Structurally sound for its age, with no major repairs. Exhibits even wear throughout, with minor fraying to one end, consistent with gentle use over time.
